The Team and Street End Farm

We would like to introduce you to the team at Street End Farm!

Sometimes it is nice to put a face to a name, and because we are a small family business- we are able to do that!

Our philosophy is simple. We are very focused on growing and producing high quality products for garden birds, offering our customers really good service (with a personal touch), and keeping the business running smoothly. Our decision making is quick. If things don’t go to plan – we can fix them immediately, with no fuss. If you call us, you will know exactly who you will be speaking to, and you can be totally confident that we will always try to do our best for you and your birds! You can view our testimonials section to see what our customers really think about our products and service – and we are always grateful for customer feedback to help us improve.

RichardRichard

Richard is a busy man! Passionate about his farm and the wildlife on it, he is responsible for growing our crops and then all the aftercare – the storage, drying and cleaning. Richard has been in the bird seed business since 1994. He develops our seed mixes, trials new mixes, and is responsible for the cleaning, mixing and blending of our products. Because he manages the whole process on the farm, he has an accurate knowledge of product usage .This information is vital to help him plan crop rotations and work out how many acres of bird seed crops we will need for the following year. It also means that our stock rotation is really accurate; the produce which leaves our farm has been very recently prepared. This ensures that our seed mixes are fresh, fresh, fresh!

Richard also orders, manages and checks the foodstuffs which we physically cannot grow on the farm and have to buy in–particularly peanuts, niger seed and sunflower hearts. It is much more difficult to deliver absolute consistency with bought-in crops, since they are affected to a much greater extent by climatic and market forces- which is why our philosophy is – ‘if we can grow it ourselves- we will!’

LesleyLesley

I am a qualified vet, and as well as being mum to Eleanor, I am responsible for the day to day running of the business and the website. I get involved locally giving talks and presentations to various local groups and organisations. I will answer veterinary- related questions which come in from our customers and will happily offer advice about feeding and general care of garden birds. After surviving a malignant eye tumour thanks to the expertise of Professor Damato and his team at the University of Liverpool Hospital, my philosophy is ‘life is not a dress-rehearsal so try to make the most of every day’!

SianSian

Sian manages the business office for us. On a day to day basis, she will be the person who answers the telephone, takes telephone orders, and processes internet orders. She will also deal with customer queries and any other customer-related communications. It will be either Sian or myself that you will talk to if you call us. Sian also helps me with our marketing and keeps our catalogue up to date. She is extremely diligent and organised – someone who really gives our customers the very best service, and never lets them down!

SimonSimon

Simon is our Dispatch Manager. He manages order fulfilment and it is his responsibility to ensure that our customers receive what they ordered – and that the products arrive undamaged (although our courier also has to take joint responsibility for this!). He also puts together our smaller 8kg and 4kg bags of bird seed and packs up all other small items and accessories which we stock. Simon also helps Richard with the mixing and blending of our bird foods, and he has an extremely good knowledge of seeds and bird seed production.

Harvest Team

Where would we be without some really good harvest help? We are lucky enough to have brothers Chris and Laurence helping us during the busy spells – great lads but you have to keep them well fed!

And finally, of course, the other member of the family...Lily...who seems to appear in just about every farm photograph!
