In addition to selling our home-grown wild bird seed on-line, we sell our range of products at Farmer’s Markets in Hampshire. This allows us to find out what our customers (and their garden birds), think about our bird food, and helps us continue to develop and improve our products. We appreciate feedback from our customers and we welcome your comments.
Here is a bit more about our bird seeds. Our seed mixes are nutritionally balanced – based on Richard's 20 years experience and Lesley's veterinary knowledge. We use products like home-grown naked oats – many people may not know that naked oats (oats without the husks) are more easily digestible- so wild birds get more energy from less volume of food. Hypothetically- they should need to eat less – but feeders still seem to empty with great speed!!
Our farm is a haven for native wild birds and at our last count up we recorded seeing 56 different birds on the farm. We have increasing populations of Skylarks, Lapwings and English Partridge -great indicators that they are certainly enjoying living and breeding with us.
We grow a large acreage of sunflowers and we leave the un-harvested sunflower seeds in the fields after harvesting which attracts masses of seed-loving wild birds to the farm all winter. Our home grown sunflowers, millet, oats, linseed, naked oats, wheat and rape, all go into our wild bird seed mixes currently, and we are continuing to sow new and varied crops which will be added to our wild bird seed mixes – so look out for a field of Niger Seed in Hampshire – coming soon!
